Samsung Galaxy S2 not recognized on Mac

I  had trouble in connecting Samsung Galaxy S2 in Mac as it was not detected as USB device. The phone was detected fine in Windows 7 but not in Mac.  If you are exeriencing the same problem here is the solution for you:

  • On your Samasung Galaxy S2 phone, go to Application->Settings
  • Go to Wirelessand Network and select USB Utilities
  • Click on Connect Storage to PC
  • A message should pop up: Connect USB cable to use mass storage (Please note that you have to connect the cable to your mac when the pop up come not before that)
Now connect the USB cable to computer
  • A green android robot should be on display with an option of “Connect USB storage“, click on it
  • The green robot turns orange now and now you can access the files on the SD card of your phone

  1. Sweet. One thing I would add is that I've noticed that I have to plug the micro end of the USB cable into the phone then pull it back out just a little bit 'til it kinda clicks and the phone beeps. Granted I'm using a cable that originally came with an LG phone, but just thought I'd point that out...

  3. I see the button 'Connect storage to PC' but no robot is displaying. Is the Power saving mode interrupt this.. when I plug in the usb cable to mac, the power saving mode is disabled.. thats the only notification but no robot. However on my another phone 'LG Optimus' it works fine, the robot does changed to orange. But Galaxy SII still not recognized on mac.
Samsung Gal II has android version 2.3.6
LG Optimus has android version 2.2
